How do you do a French “grave” on a Word document?

Question by 2kool4u: How do you do a French “grave” on a Word document?
I’m working on a Word document in English on my Mac and I need to put in a French “grave” accent (the one that goes down from left to right). What’s a quick, easy way to do that?

Thanks!

Press the option key in combination with the grave accent key (the key beside the 1 and above the tab) followed by the character you want.

Hi there, i read your blog from time to time and i own a similar one and i was just wondering if you get a lot of spam remarks? If so how do you prevent it, any plugin or anything you can recommend? I get so much lately it’s driving me crazy so any support is very much appreciated.

There is also another alternative… you can use what are called “alt codes” to type accented letters. For example, if you wanted an ‘è’ , you would first hold the ALT key down, then using the number pad (making sure num lock is already on) type 0232 and then let go of the alt key and the accented letter should appear.

Here is a useful table of a wide variety of different codes. I use this as reference should I forget a certain character. Hope this helps!
